Your orders are shipped in Forestry Certified paper packaging, the inks are ocean friendly and even the glue seal is made from bees-wax! They biodegrade naturally in three months and can go in any recycling bin as you would with normal cardboard or will breakdown in your compost bin.

Any ties or ribbons we may use to make your order extra pretty are second hand. If you are composting your paper mail bag please remove the sticker labels.

vintage

All our vintage pieces are handpicked by me (Ella). If your item is washed before sending, it will be with eco-friendly detergents and dried outside. Our embroidery is hand sewn using second hand, high quality embroidery threads, often these are vintage threads. Our re-worked denim is hand-dyed with the best quality dyes, sadly these are not yet eco-friendly. To combat this we only dye denim which has been heavily stained and therefore unwearable, giving them a new life and saving them from landfill.

New

All new items are handmade in India from recycled industrial waste or factory seconds. In a nutshell, large factories in India end up with fabrics left over which cannot be used to run another line and are usually then dumped in landfill. There is a growing market of small businesses in Indian cities which buy these fabrics before they are dumped. I then choose our fabrics from these small business (via video chat!) working with the NGO which means there is only ever a limited amount available to buy.
